Current Work in SRMs for Clinical Diagnostics/Assessments and Therapeutic Monitoring

Recent new and renewal SRMs issued include:

  • SRM 2921 Human Cardiac Troponin Complex (heart attack marker; certified value for Cardiac Troponni -I ( cTnI); reference values for cTnT and cTnC)
  • A study of the determination of cTnI in SRM 2921 with 19 cTnI assays currently available is in progress. This should enable demonstration of SRM 2921's commutability in compliance with ISO 15194 as required for JCTLM listing of this SRM as a “higher order” reference material.
  • SRM 1951b Cholesterol in Human Serum (heart disease marker; two materials of different concentration levels; certified values for total cholesterol and triglycerides provided for each level)
  • SRM 965a Glucose in Human Serum (diabetes marker; four materials of different concentration levels; certified value for glucose provided for each level)
  • SRM 956b Electrolytes in Human Serum
  • SRM 1955 Homocysteine and Folate in Human Serum (in final review) (homocysteine: risk factor for heart disease and other diseases associated with oxidative damage; folates: antioxidants and reducer of neural tube defects)

New and high-priority renewal SRMs in progress include:

  • SRM 971 Hormones in Human Serum (tentative: certified values for cortisol, total T4 (thyroxine), and total T3 (triiodothyronine) with reference values for free T4, free T3, and TSH).
  • SRM 927d Bovine Serum Albumin
  • SRM 967 Creatinine in Frozen Human Serum (kidney function marker)
  • SRMs 1957,1958 Contaminants in Human Serums (1957 is a non-fortified material and 1958 is fortified)
  • SRM 1598a Inorganic Constituents in Animal Serum
  • SRM 1577c Bovine Liver
  • SRM 955c Lead in Bovine Blood
  • SRM 911c Cholesterol (primary standard)
