HOTEL & TRAVEL

Attendees must make their own hotel and travel arrangements.

Hilton Washington DC North, in Gaithersburg, MD is the primary hotel and has a block of rooms at the special rate of $109 per day. The Hilton is ~0.5 miles from the NIST campus.
Attachment 1 PDF Logo provides information for making reservations.

Daily shuttle - NIST will provide a bus to transport attendees to and from the NIST Administration Building (Bldg. 101). The hotel also provides a free shuttle to and from NIST.
Local transportation, at other times, can be arranged using the free hotel shuttle, taxis, busses or personal vehicles.

NIST provides a free shuttle van between the Gaithersburg campus and the nearest Metrorail station at Shady Grove (www.wmata.com), for anyone wishing to stay downtown. Shuttle vans and busses pick up and discharge passengers from the lobby entrance to the Administration Building.

Montgomery County Ride-On busses stop at the Administration Building in the morning and afternoon. In the surrounding community, there are numerous local bus stops marked with a small blue and white sign.

Washington Metro busses also run frequently. Metro bus stops are marked by small red, white, and blue signs (www.wmata.com).

Three international airports serve the region: Baltimore Washington International (BWI), Dulles International (IAD), and Reagan National (DCA). Approximate driving times (non-rush hour) are BWI 75 min, DCA and IAD both 45 min. BWI patrons can use Amtrak service to Washington Union Station where they can board the Metrorail Red Line subway. DCA is served by the Yellow and Blue Metrorail subway lines. We recommend you fly in Sunday to avoid Monday morning rush hour.

The NIST Visitors website has additional information on alternate hotels, airport information, rail travel, directions to NIST, transportation choices, local dining choices, etc.
