NIST
is actively supporting the national need for more effective
measurement tools to detect terrorist activity. In our laboratory,
measurement methods for the detection of nitroaromatic (TNT),
nitrate esters (NG, PETN, and EGDN) and nitramine (RDX and
HMX) explosives using capillary electrophoresis and liquid
chromatography are under development. Ultimately, we hope
to develop a reference material with certified values for
these high explosives agents.
