My research interests center primarily on electronic structure in solids and, in particular, employing and developing surface sensitive spectroscopies to study electronic structure and dynamics at surfaces and interfaces. Investigations are performed in a wide range areas, including utilization of angle-resolved photoemission for studying bulk and surface/interface electronic structure effects and surface structure, investigations of correlation effects on metal-insulator transitions in transition metal oxides (both bulk and thin film), electronic structure of ferroelectric materials, and oxide thin film growth.  I have also recently begun studies of radical-surface interactions and surface dynamics in plasma processing.  A large part of this effort is focussed on analyzing AFM data to extract information on surface dynamics that is imprinted in the surface morphology during etching.
