Electronic Structure

Charge transport occurs in a moletronic system when a molecular orbital comes into resonance with the Fermi-level of a metal contact to which a voltage has been applied. These energies level have been extensively investigated using ab initio calculations of isolated molecules. This research is investigating the exact energy of these molecular orbitals and how monolayer formation affects these energy levels using laser-induced, two-photon photoionization spectroscopy.
