A new area of research in proteomics utilizing mass spectrometry in conjunction with ESI and MALDI is being initiated. This will involve the identification of new proteins expressed in biological systems and how their levels of expression change when subjected to various stress conditions. An important aspect of this research is the development of new in vivo and in vitro approaches to quantify changes in the levels of expression of these new proteins.
