|
This image database was developed to hold test microscopy images that may be useful for testing and developing image analysis routines applicable to automated microscopy procedures. These images can also be used as test images for the Indicator Cell Analysis (ICA) plugin for ImageJ. In most cases, the images are compressed and can be extracted with WinZip or equivalent software. The images are in 16-bit TIFF format and were saved by the ImageJ TIFF file generating routine. They can be opened in ImageJ and most TIFF compatible image display software. Most downloads are collections of 50 to 100 images from an individual sample. These test images are labeled name.tif.001, name.tif.002, etc. The numeric extension is required for use of the ICA image analysis software. In some cases, the numeric extensions may hide the images from software routines that auto-detect image files. Many of the files contain two or three directories for multicolor images. In these cases, the images with the same numeric extension correspond to the same position on the sample.
A description of each set of test images as well as the zip file size are below. |
Downloads
- GFP-NIH3T3 cells (100 Mb). These NIH3T3 cells were stabily transfected with a promoter-driven eGFP construct. The cells were fixed with MBS/MTSB and stained with Tx-Red Maleimide, DAPI. 100 images were collected from cells on a tissue culture polystyrene dish using a 10x objective. This archive contains three sets of images. Cell perimeter, cell nucleus and GFP levels can be determined with these images.
- Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (30 Mb). Rat aortic muscle cells were cultured on tissue culture polystyrene dishes. Cells were fixed with formaldehyde, and stained with Tx-Red and DAPI. Images (50) were collected from the sample using a 10 x objective. The archive contains two sets of images. Cell perimeter and cell nucleus features can be extracted.
- Test Images for Edge Detection Algorthms (5 Mb). Several sample images of vascular smooth muscle cells, NIH3T3 cells and adult mesenchymal stem cells stained with Tx-Red maleimide and DAPI are presented. These images show the variation in staining intensities that can be encountered using this staining procedure.
