What We Do

Enhance state-of-the-art scientific and technical knowledge in cell and tissue biological sciences for the biotech/pharmaceutical industry by developing advanced measurement tools and standards that are applied to the fields of Quantitative Cell Biology, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, and Gene Expression.

The role of the Cell & Tissue Measurements Group is carried out through the following goals of each core competency:

Quantitative Cell Biology: To develop advanced measurement tools, standard protocols and materials for quantifying cell response using fluorescence microscopy and imaging and other measurement methods.

Proteomics: To enhance the impact of discoveries in proteomics through focused efforts in instrumentation, protein separation and detection standards and measurement technologies.

Bioinformatics: To enhance bioinformatics discoveries by developing customer friendly query tools that address issues of interoperability and data standards.

Metrology for Gene Expression: To develop the technical infrastructure (measurement science, data, standards, and models) necessary to support gene expression measurements in the clinical laboratory and in research applications.
